Preparing for your Injectable Appointment

To minimize the chance of bruising from the filler injection:

  • Do not take any aspirin, ibuprofen or similar products (Advil, Motrin, Aleve) for 1 week prior to filler.
  • Avoid fish oil, Vitamin E, and gingko biloba for 1 week prior to filler.
  • Eat spinach, kale and celery the week before to boost your levels of Vitamin K.
  • Avoid eating apples or large quantities of garlic before your appointment.

Additional Instructions:

  • Hydrate and eat a full meal before filler.
  • Clear your schedule after treatment so you can take time to ice treated areas if necessary.
  • You will not be able to exercise after your injectable treatment so please plan your day accordingly and exercise prior to your treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores and plan to treat your lips, it may be recommended to take an antiherpetic medication prior to treatment.

Post Injectable Treatment Aftercare Recommendations

  • Apply our *FACE Arnica Healing Elixir topically to treatment areas multiple times a day. *These products are available for purchase at the front desk
  • Using *MEND Cosmetic dietary supplement (as directed) to aid in healing and reduce swelling and potential bruising.
  • Apply an ice pack (5 mins on, 5 mins off) for the remainder of the day, as much as possible
  • Take acetaminophen (Tylenol) to reduce pain as necessary. Avoid ibuprofen.
  • Avoid itching, massaging, or picking around the injection site. Some slight discomfort and itching are normal and generally disappears within a few hours to a few days. If these symptoms last more than 3 days, please contact our office.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or partaking in strenuous exercise, as it may result in additional bruising.
  • Continue using the Arnica healing elixir and MEND Cosmetic until all swelling and bruising have resolved.
  • For the first 24 hours, avoid extreme temperatures. This includes sunbathing, tanning, saunas, hot tubs, or hot wax.
  • To help alleviate swelling, you may want to use an antihistamine during the day, like Zyrtec or Claritin, and Benadryl at night.
  • If there is a visible bump, you can gently massage the area. Depending on the areas treated and the product used, you may feel “firmness.” These areas will soften and settle with time (usually 1-2 weeks).
  • Sunscreen and makeup can be applied, and you may use a gentle cleanser on the area.
  • Avoid facial treatments, facial laser treatments, and facial massage for 2 weeks after treatment
  • No going to the gym, yoga, or strenuous activity for the rest of the day
  • No significant alcohol intake for 24 hours
  • Sleep elevated with an extra pillow for one night
