Certain professions demand more of you aesthetically. Celebrities like movie or TV stars, models, and even musicians often aim at perfection when it comes to their looks. Fitness and healthy diets ensure they’re at their best, but sometimes, a little help from a cosmetic surgeon can put the finishing touches on their appearance. And one of the most popular procedures in celeb circles is that famed “nose job” or rhinoplasty.
Star of the hit TV sitcom Friends, Lisa Kudrow says a nose job gave her a much-needed change of appearance in her late teens. Speaking candidly in an interview to The Saturday Evening Post, she is reported to have said that rhinoplasty for her, was "life-altering".
Model, tv personality, and businesswoman Tyra Banks has also gone on record about her nose job, saying that she had rhinoplasty as a cosmetic procedure even though she could breathe just fine. She also adds that one shouldn’t judge someone for wanting to improve their appearance. The former Victoria’s Secret model says that women should have the freedom to “fix it” or “flaunt it”, as they please.
Another celebrity who felt getting a nose job changed her world as she knew it, is singer-songwriter and actress, Courtney Love. She had rhinoplasty to deal with her big nose when she was about 20 years old.
In all these cases, what is common is that the celebrities felt their lives took a turn for the better and that they felt better about their appearance after having rhinoplasty. As some of them put it, their perception of their own looks improved. It made them feel good about how their nose looked and did away with what they saw as a “problem spot”.
Not all rhinoplasty is done for aesthetic reasons. Some celebrities, just like the rest of us, need to get work done on their nose to improve nasal function and to help them breathe easier. Ashley Tisdale, star of High School Musical, has openly discussed just such a nose job. Quoted in People magazine as saying she had rhinoplasty to correct a deviated septum and to deal with fractures in the nose, she stresses the importance of some cosmetic surgery procedures for good health.
Another instance of rhinoplasty after injury is of star Dianna Agron of the musical TV series Glee. And she had to have it done not once but twice! The first time, she was accidentally punched during a party in high school and needed corrective surgery. Years later, while filming the Glee concert tour, she injured her nose again and needed another round of rhinoplasty.
